pile of flower

The reason of noticing her disk is the cover design—-

pink color with a pile of flowers, elegant and   peaceful.

and her name, the same with me.

What express me deeply is the prop she used to be art works.

She can use flowers, which is considered a pretty thing in life, but also something ordinarily urgly and awful thing,

such as rotten plant, Blooding meat, dead animals.

She uses dead rabit and pork leg, copy them on manifdder, pose them in approperiate gesture—all can be seen on paper is a creative, un-imitating painting.

She uses the lights and smoke on the stage, illustrate a special atmosphere art.

a discussion of post-modernism

Filed under: Uncategorized — helenhe @ 2:25 am

today when I was chatting with my father on msn, we got in the topic of post-modernism.

I thought post-modernism is an abstract word, and didn’t know how to reply when dad asked me to do some research on the post-modernism on TV and film representation and taste.

I considered the post-modernism in TV and film is kind of presenting method or style, is a way of narritive, like a new montage method, which is quite different from the tranditional one. But what is definetely a post-modernism?

Dad said he thought post-modernism is the phase after the highly prosperity of developed contries. Doing research on people’s living status and representation is getting access to post-modernism.

And then we check the definition of wikipedia:

Postmodernism is an idea that has been extremely controversial and difficult to define among scholars, intellectuals, and historians, as it connotes to many the hotly debated idea that the modern historical period has passed. Nevertheless, most agree that postmodern ideas have taken place in philosophy, art, critical theory, literature, architecture, design, interpretation of history, and culture since the late 20th century.

Postmodernity, a separate term, describes social and cultural conditions connected to the era in which postmodernism arose.

focus on “strong women”

Filed under: Uncategorized — helenhe @ 1:58 am

Accepting palua’s suggestion, I decide to do research on ” strong women”, which the theme shown on the former website.

I’ve read a lot in the source guide “strong women”pdf, it is really a brilliate data basement!

Easy to find all the connected mals and references there, from movies, shorts, books, to essays and discussions .

Introduction

Not since the film noirs and melodramas of the forties and fifties have there been so many strong roles for women to play on both the big and small screens as there are today and in the past decade. The cinema-going public that women can play just as hard as the men, even better sometimes. i.e. CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON; LARA CROFT; TOMB RAIDER.

Coupled with the modern day women getting what they want, how they want it from such neo-noirs as BASIC INSTINCT and BOUND, strong women finally seem to have a voice in our society today.

So find sth to read and watch:

<Nikita>-DVD0481, harrow lib.

<All about my mother>1999-DVD0177,harrow

and the book about dressing in cinema, should be useful in my final project—-

<Undressing cinema: Clothing and identity in the movies> 1997, regent, 791.43655BRU.

Strong Women

Filed under: Uncategorized — helenhe @ 12:43 am

Written and compiled by Nicola Clarke, Stephen Gordon, Louise Johnston, Ayesha Khan, Emma Smart, José de Esteban and Wendy Thomas

Strong WomenNot since the film noirs and melodramas of the forties and fifties have there been so many strong roles for women to play on both the big and small screens. One only has to pick up a television guide to find a series named after its female protagonist (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or where the female character is on equal footing with the male lead (The X-Files). And there has been a recent influx of big screen outings that has shown the cinema-going public that women can play just as hard as the men, in films such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. This annotated reference guide will point you in the right direction in your research of strong women of the 1990s in both cinema and television. This guide includes books, articles, and essays that all try to explain the emergence of the strong woman in our society, in a wide range of films and television shows.

What is theory?

Filed under: Uncategorized — helenhe @ 5:29 pm

Paula Roush asked me to setup a new blog like this, in order to showing my research and some kind of theoritical things.

Unluckily, I don’t like theoritical things at all, though I know “Practice is guided by theory”. I’m not use to reading books, especially theory referees….

So I think the best way for me is practicing then summarize a little bit theory, companying with some referees.

Ok, by the way, make a self-introduction firstly.
